All funds go to the 501c3 Great
Bend Bat Cats account, and 100% of the net will go towards Al Burns Memorial
Field at Veterans Park.
We are launching a Brick
Fundraiser to help renovate Al Burns Memorial Field at Veterans Park. The field is still host to some High School
and American Legion baseball, and for the past three years has been the home of
the Great Bend Bat Cats summer collegiate baseball team during the summer
months. The field is very near and dear
to many who have roamed it since it’s inception in the 70’s. We hope that games are played at Al Burns for
another 50 years, beginning with a little facelift moving forward. You can be part of this much needed project
by buying a brick with your own information (name, years, name of friend, name
of son-grandson-nephew.....whatever you’d like) and become immortalized in a
wall at the end of the project. Even if you’re just a baseball fan, or would
love to see the field get new life, we encourage you to get in on this project!
Many of these upgrades are for the purpose for the
players, and having a nicer/safer field to play on, but we haven’t forgotten
about the fans. These changes will be
much more fan friendly with more space to move from either side of the stands,
and the convenience of concessions in a permanent location. Also, with netting from dugout to dugout,
your view will be spectacular! Our hopes
are to raise enough to complete everything that we hope to in two phases, with
Phase 1 to be completed prior to play in the summer of 2020. The fundraiser is one that won’t go away, so
we hope to continue to get more bricks sold and gain ground to complete Phase 2
prior to play in 2021. The brick
fundraiser will be found on the business website provided by Polar Engraving,
as well as on FB page AlBurnsProject2020. 100% of the net goes towards the
field!
