Memorial Stones are not just for those who come to the Phenix Community Dog
Park on a daily basis.
Even if you don’t
frequent the park yourself. Purchasing a Memorial Stone is a way for any person or business to show
their support of Benicia’s only dog park and the people who use it.
Dog
people sometimes don’t even use the dog park. You and your dog may be hikers, swimmers, walkers,
enjoy your own spacious backyard or perhaps you currently don't have a dog companion. But a
memorial stone furthers the efforts of those who understand that Phenix Community Dog Park is the
heaviest used park in all of Benicia, in use all year round, in every kind of weather. While other
parks in the city only get used for a few months out of the year.
The stone you order
will not only become a permenant part of Phenix Community Dog Park. It will also help a young Scout
get one step closer to earning his Eagle Rank. This stone is not something that will go away in a
year or two. Your stone will be there for decades to come.
All the money raised will benefit the dog park and provide the amenities requested by the people who use the park on a daily basis and often consider Phenix Community Dog Park a second home.
Maximilian is the son of the two people who spearheaded the foundation of the dog park and the formation of the Canine Coalition, Gretchen and Tony. To this day, the Canine Coalition still watches over the park, continues to advocate for broader animal rights in Benicia and greater access to city areas for both of Benicia’s 4 and 2 legged citizens.
Maximilian has been coming to Phenix Community Dog Park since he was born. So when it came time for him to choose a community project to fulfill his requirements for the Eagle Rank in Scouting, it seemed a natural fit for him to continue the family legacy.
His Eagle Project will reflect the wants and needs of those who use the park every day of the week and in every kind of weather.
It is also his wish that even after his Eagle Project is completed, that his
fundraising efforts will live on to further the needs of the dog park and continue in the park’s
improvements and maintenance.
