The Boy Scouts of
America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development
organizations, providing programs for young people that build character, trains them in the
responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops personal fitness. For more than 100
years, Boy Scouts of America has helped build future leaders by combining educational activities and
lifelong values with fun. Troop 41 has brought this larger program to local boys for over 60
years and most of that has been in the Cypress Scout Hut located in the heart of Historic Patterson,
Louisiana. The hut was built in 1957 from locally hewn cypress tress and has been the
gathering point for generations of scouts and will continue to be for generations to come. The
hut was recently moved and renovated to Scout owned property. With the move complete and the
boys back in, we are focused on broadening the local program and exposing the Troop to more
adventures and new parts of the country. A memorial square has been built in to the design to
allow donors to:
- Remember a loved one:
~ a lost family member,
friend, or church member
~ a lost military member
- Celebrate a
precious memory:
~ your child’s preschool, high school, or college
graduation
~ the birth or adoption of a
child
~ an anniversary
~ an important
birthday
- Honor your family name:
~ as members of the
church
~ as supporters of scouting
~ as
supporters of BSA Troop 41
