History: The Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, an African American denomination, was established in 1870 by 41 former slaves. There are four CME Church affiliated HBCU colleges: Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, founded in 1882; Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, founded in 1882; Texas College in Tyler, Texas, founded in 1898. Presently, the church reports approximately 850,000 communicants in the Continental United States, Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, and the Congo.
College Park CME Church was erected in April 1991. Several pastors
conducted worship service until its first full-time pastor was appointed in August
1992. College Park CME Church endeavors to improve and advance the spiritual
lives of its members and new converts, to be an asset for the community in
which it resides, and to promote an awareness of Jesus Christ as the Source of
salvation and eternal life.
“…and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and
in Samaria…” (Acts 1:8) and in your home and town.
The Brick Campaign will support the building and maintenance of our Christian Education Center.
From the younger generations to the older ones, everyone can participate in this campaign!
The Christian Education Center will include amenities such as classrooms, administrative offices, and a fellowship hall with kitchen. The Fellowship Hall will be available to the Community to host receptions, birthday gatherings and other similar ceremonies. When you purchase one or more bricks to honor a family member, a loved one who is inspirational in your life, or even a lost pet, you will be supporting a neighborhood resource that has been carefully planned and will provide an efficient and safe space for years to come. Each personally inscribed brick will be prominently displayed at the entrance to the Christian Education Center, and viewable from several vantage points. Thank you for your trust and support in this worthy endeavor.
