Welcome to Lejeune High School Marine Corps JROTC
Brick Fundraiser. To better understand the needs of this organization, we will
explain how much funding it takes annually to support our cadets. Here
are some examples; on average, it takes approximately $10,000 a year to fund
the extracurricular activities that make JROTC what it is today. Examples of
events are; rifle matches that cost about $150.00 each, summer camps that can
cost up to $300.00 per cadet, annual Mess night which costs roughly $2300 for the
cadet Corps, annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball that costs up $2500.00, Raider
Meet in Daytona Beach, Florida which costs approximately $3500.00; these are
just a few activities that the brick fundraiser will support.
As you might not know the unit was a product of
the military budget cuts a few years ago and with that comes the problem of
finding ways to make the financial means to keep the program as active as it
has always been. The LHS MC JROTC does multiple things besides just everyday
work in a class room. There are multiple different teams the cadets are a part
of; Rifle team, Pt Team, Raider Team, Cyber Patriot Team, Orienteering Team,
and Color Guard. With those teams come traveling and competitions, which
turns in to a need for money.
These teams in an integral part of JROTC and
teach the lessons that are most valuable. Another venue where JROTC has
excelled is in service to the community of Eastern North Carolina. For the past
4 years, JROTC has received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award as a Unit
and each year approximately 50 Cadets receive the individual award. As a
unit they average 7500 hours of community service yearly for the past 10 years.
With the school being renovated and the ongoing
construction, the brick fundraiser would be another enhancement. This
fundraiser would not only help raise funds for the LHS JROTC program, but would
be a way for the students, alumni, faculty, family and friends to become a
permanent fixture on the campus.
Our goal is to place a custom brick
anywhere and everywhere that we are allowed on campus so that the students and
faculty of today and tomorrow can leave their personal mark on Lejeune High
School forever. Once a Devilpup, Always a Devilpup!
