During Simpson County’s Bicentennial Year, you can help create a Veteran Plaza around the flag at the Franklin Post Office by purchasing engraved bricks to honor veterans. A Blue Star Memorial marker (donated by the Franklin Garden Club) will be part of the landscaping, along with Kentucky flowers. 

What will the Veteran Plaza look like? 

The engraved bricks will be laid in a triangle area surrounding the flagpole, with the Blue Star marker at the far end and flower beds on two sides. If funds permit, more flower beds and a small tree will be placed at the side entrance, and the front of the building will be landscaped.

Whose name can be on a brick?

All U.S. veterans from 1775 to this year, from natives of Simpson County to those who’ve recently arrived or who have family or friends in the area are welcome. The bricks can be in memory of someone who’s passed on, or in honor of someone who’s living. They can be for an individual or any U.S. military group, from a squad or ship or an entire branch of service. If there are duplicates, the Franklin Garden Club will contact the sponsors to see if they want to co-sponsor the veteran’s brick.

Can I add a picture? 

Yes. You can choose from existing graphics or upload your own.

What if a name is too long to fit? 

Contact the Franklin Garden Club for assistance.

Can I order a brick to keep for myself? 

Yes. You can also order two identical bricks, one for the Veteran Plaza and one to keep, and we also offer 4”x 4” keepsake tiles.

OUR DEADLINES ARE:

January 31st, May 31st and August 31st of each year.

This project is sponsored by the Franklin Garden Club, in cooperation with the US Post Office in Franklin KY and businesses and community organizations in Simpson County. The funds raised will be used to create the Veteran Plaza and landscape the Franklin Post Office. Any excess funds will be donated to a veteran support organization.
