Expanding
our Horizons
We envision the Freedom Ranch as a leader in the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Community, utilizing all feasible resources in providing treatment and recovery services to the maximum number of alcoholics and addicts possible. We cannot do this without your generous donations, Our Dream, is to build a new facility and it all starts one brick at a time. Your bricks will be memorialized on the building or walk of fame surrounding the Freedom Ranch tree. These bricks will be incorporated in the construction efforts and live on as your permanent contribution for years to come. All proceeds from these bricks will benefit the expansion effort.
Our long term goals is to add 75 more licensed recovery beds, bringing our total capacity to 125 men. Our goal of $6.5 Million is a big number, but a realistic and needed one. To reach this goal it will take many people working together wholeheartedly. But this project, and indeed the history of the Freedom Ranch, demonstrates the beauty of a community coming together.
In a typical year, our Ranch helps 250+ men recover from the ravages of addiction and move from wards of the state to productive workers, contributing citizens, and solid providers for themselves and their families. But there are many more men that need our help. When we opened the Freedom Ranch in 1972, the population of San Diego County was 1.4 million. Today it’s an estimated 3.2 million. Yet the number of county contracted recovery beds available in the County has only increased from 800 to 950 beds. The population has more than doubled, the problems of addiction (especially drugs) have grown more acute yet capacity in the County has not equally changed. To meet this need, we have embarked on a long-term expansion project. We have expanded the Ranch by nearly 260 acres and undergone a lengthy approval process that has cost nearly half of million dollars. Major Use Permits have been approved and grading plans are being reviewed by the County to begin construction. That number will more than double when this project reaches fruition, substantially adding to the more than 8500 men that have transitioned through the Freedom Ranch over the last 47 years.
When you help, you will have contributed more than just money. You will become a major partner in providing a healthy and productive life for hundreds of those in the throes of addiction – and aid their families and communities as well.
