Green’s Corners School,
built in 1825, is one of only a few One Room School Houses remaining in America of the over 212,000
existing in the early 1900's. This school is the only one remaining in the Town of Glenville and
is the oldest of the few remaining in Schenectady County and surrounding Counties of Saratoga,
Montgomery, Fulton, Schoharie and Albany.
During the restoration
work we started in November of 2013 we uncovered original horizontal hand planed pine boards some up
to 20” wide with names and initials carved into the boards. On the exterior children carved the
bricks all around the 20’ x 24’ brick walls. So adding a new porch with steps and possibly a ramp to
the school with engraved pavers fits very well with the restoration.
Your purchase of an engraved brick would support renovations as well as support school
trips to the Museum into the Future. The purchase is thru a 501c3 foundation and is tax deductible
to the extent allowable by law.
Thank
you for your support!
