Decades of Honor Memorial
Our freedom requires the dedication of
decades of men and women past and present.
For this reason we have erected this monument. This monument, like our freedom, was
conceived with the thought to honor and give thanks to all of those who have
sacrificed to allow us to have the freedoms that we have. The Eagle is in place, the flag flies, the
walls have been built. Now is the time
for those who want to honor those who have served our country to step
forward.
As we
planned this monument, we realized that as the work of defending our country is
ongoing, we need a way to recognize not only those that have gone before and not
exclude those who are currently defending and those who will be defending in
the years to come. To facilitate this
process, we elected to have each service person honored on an individual black
granite tile. The granite tiles can be
requested by friends, family or by the service person themselves. Post 556 maintains the monument and will be
charged with validating requests, installing the tiles and performing
appropriate ceremonies to honor those recognized.
The tiles can be engraved with up to three lines of text and may contain an optional military service related logo. As mentioned above the Post will review all requests and be responsible for having the granite tiles installed. You will be notified when the tile is to be installed. You may also order a smaller keepsake tile to remind you of the memorial.
