Ashland Animal Rescue Fund (AARF) is a 501.c3 non-profit organization located in Ashland, Kentucky.
AARF began with very humble beginnings in 2009 with the help of a small group of animal lovers, volunteers and fosters. Without a facility, we relied solely on families willing to open their hearts and homes to animals in need, as well as support and funding from our community. We then rented a building once used as a jamboree hall. While this facility was less than desirable, it was the best we could do based upon funding and community restrictions. But we are VERY thankful for what we had, as it allowed us to rescue many more animals than we ever thought possible.
After 6 years, and tremendous community support, we have finally secured a building that will accommodate our needs and provide a climate controlled facility for our residents. We have always believed that our rescues deserve better and we are taking a big leap of faith in providing that for them.
Proceeds from this sale will allow us to renovate and equip the new building to become more functional for our purpose. It is a blank slate at this point and we have so many ideas! Our initial goal is new caging to safely separate each cat and dog, along with an isolation area for new intakes and sick animals. We also have plans for a separate puppy room, vetting area and bathing station. In addition, we need quiet, stress-free space for nursing moms and newborns. We want to focus on our cats as well and create a patio style space for them to enjoy a little free roaming time. There will certainly be many needs, however this is the first phase of what we feel is important to improve their living conditions.
The purchased bricks will be used to create a walkway that will enhance the entryway into the new kennel facility. It will be located in the grassy area in front of the building. We have two different sizes of bricks to choose from and you can have your bricks engraved with special messages. Clip Art is also available to be engraved on the brick if you choose to include it, and replica bricks are available for you to display at your home or office. Once a large enough number of bricks are ordered and ready, we will construct the path for all to see and enjoy.
Memorialize your beloved pets and other family members or commemorate family and pet milestones with an engraved brick. In an effort to promote those businesses and sponsors who wish to contribute to AARF, we invite them to invest in a lasting, tax-free advertisement on a brick. Donors are welcome to visit the shelter, sit in the memorial garden, and enjoy the peaceful reflection and celebrations of the pets and people you hold dear.
