Building BBCC's New Dock
One Brick at a
Time
The Byram Bay Community Club (BBCC), located in Byram Cove on
scenic Lake Hopatcong, NJ, was established in 1938. The BBCC is a non-profit, member owned
and operated community club. It serves as a central gathering point for local families to
come together to enjoy the lake and time with each other. The focal point of the BBCC has
always been the dock that extended 50 feet out into the lake. At the end of the dock were 2
diving boards and a flag pole.

From the great dock
at Byram Bay Community Club, many of you, your children, or your grandchildren caught their first
fish, learned to swim, made lifelong friends and built a lifetime of memories. Many a
toddler took their first leap off that dock into their parents arms or their first dive off the
diving board. Endless games of tag filled the summer days. Every year for decades
there were diving contests and swim races, fierce competitions that every child (and cheering
parent) took very seriously. Every 4th of July fireworks were lit from the end of the dock
to celebrate our great country's independence. Sadly, in 2014, none of these things
occurred at the BBCC.
This is because our
dock suffered irreparable damage during the difficult winter of 2013-14. The crushing
pressure of the ice formation, as the water rose after the draw down, bent the steel beams and
destroyed the cement dock. For over 40 years the dock has been the center of swimming and
diving activities and now it is gone. The cost for the removal of the old dock was over
$5,000, and the cost to replace it is estimated to be $30-$40,000 or more. This is a
significant amount of money and clearly the BBCC does not have these funds
available.
We are conducting a variety of fundraising activities and
one of them is selling commemorative bricks to be used for walkways around the club property.
This is where you come in.

Our brick paver fundraiser is a way that you can help rebuild
the dock while permanently commemorating your memories, family and friends. Your brick will be
your custom memory or tribute and will forever be on display at the Byram Bay Community Club.
It is a profound way to remember your loved ones or pets, honor those who serve, announce a
birth, graduation or wedding, send a birthday or anniversary wish, show your passion for a loved
one, pet, event or sport, or permanently commemorate an unforgettable time in your life at BBCC.
We appreciate all the support from the generations of families
who have been touched by the joy and love of our treasured BBCC over the past 77 years.
