The Dania Beach Monkey
Sanctuary provides lifetime care for vervet monkeys in need. The monkeys are a
nonnative species that are not privileged to welfare or protection. Monkeys are
typically euthanized if injured, trapped, or confiscated. Sadly, due to current
laws, monkeys cannot be released into the wild. Our sanctuary is dedicated to offering
a compassionate home with access to enrichment, natural environments, healthy
diet, and veterinary care for monkeys at risk.
We lease 16 acres of mangrove
space which provides a natural setting for the monkeys away from the urban
environment. The sanctuary already has 2 permanent residents since opening in
August. Spock came to us after he was trapped as a “nuisance”. Betty is our
youngest resident at just a year old. She suffered terrible injuries due to an
electrocution and lost her leg. We anticipate more monkeys coming into our
care.
The Dania Beach Monkey
Sanctuary is a registered 501c3 organizations. We receive no government
funding. Thank you for helping save a life with your generous donation. Your steppingstone will help pave the way to
more monkey habitats at the sanctuary.
