We are in the process of building the museum and after 13 years we now have 10
acres donated by a local ranch and are preparing to pour the concrete on the
first of 6 buildings.
The buildings will be laid out to resemble the town of Lockwood as it was in
the 1800s with wooden false fronts etc.
There will be as much display of artifacts outside the buildings as inside.
A lot of artifacts have been donated to the museum over the years and they are
stored in the barns and sheds of various members until the museum site is
prepared to receive them.
Our goal is to preserve and display the history of this area from the time when
only Indians inhabited the area through the Spanish era then the
settlers.
The goal of the museum is to
teach future generations about their pioneer heritage. Nacitone was a name
given to a group that met in the 50's, 60's & 70's to protect and control
soil erosion in the watershed region of the Nacimiento and San Antonio Lakes.
