Last year, a 96
year old WWII vet visited the artwork and war memorials of Laura Pope Forester.
His 65 & 69 year old sons nearly carried him, one on each side, because the
walker got stuck in the paths that currently lead to memorials. Two
years ago, a quadriplegic mother was frantic because her motorized
wheelchair would not navigate the paths. Her fear was that she was
going to miss her daughter's wedding. It does not have to be this
way.
Would you help Pope's
Museum be easily accessible to all people? Popes Museum, whose national
significance has received the endorsement of the U.S. National Park
Service, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and
the VFW Department of Georgia, unfortunately has to
turn some people away. While the restoration efforts have been rewarded by
the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, the paths in the historic gardens and
artwork were formed with mulch. This is not a surface that walkers, wheelchairs,
or the unsteady can navigate. Our vision is simple: Raise funds for
bricks and installation. Brick paths are navigable, historically authentic, and
create an opportunity for you to be partner with us in this nationally
recognized restoration project.
Not only does Popes
Museum benefit, but you also are given an opportunity to memorialize
people and events that impacted your lives and community. Weddings*,
Births, Deaths, Graduations, Military service, Business anniversaries
(including a personalized logo) engraved on your memorial bricks. Purchase one
memorial brick or several. Purchase one engraved brick and/or several plain
ones. Prices of donations range from 25-$150. Each purchase is used to
make it so that everyone can be a part of this restoration project.
Your bricks are
engraved according to your specifications. You can even attach a personalized
logo or image on your brick.
PayPal and checks
accepted.
Popes Museum is an IRS approved 501c nonprofit. Donations are tax deductible.
