Regional Animal Shelter

Regional Animal Shelter is a volunteer-run, no-kill, not-for-profit (501c3) animal shelter founded in 2002. In 2012, the doors to our Annex facility in Gloversville, NY were opened. In less than two years, over 400 dogs were reunited with their families or placed into new, loving homes. However, with the stray and neglected populations rising, something more needs to occur.

In October of 2013, Regional Animal Shelter broke ground on what will be a new Humane Society in Johnstown, NY to benefit the animals in the Fulton, Montgomery, and Hamilton County communities. By actively seeking grants and funding, we hope to help reduce the stray animal population to zero by participating in any spay/neuter programs available and to actively promote education, training, and public awareness. It is our goal to provide immediate shelter and care for any and all homeless or abused animals and shelter them until such time as they are redeemed to their owners, adopted into new families, or humanely treated. We intend to provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a-week, and respond to the public and municipalities that we serve.

Help us provide the resources and the facility that will help eliminate local pet overpopulation, as we work with every fellow organization that promotes the spaying and neutering of pets, and as we begin to build the facility which will allow us to better serve our four-legged friends and the humans that call them family. Our new facility will include  separate cat and dog rooms (at the Annex, we can only house dogs), accommodations for large animals, an on premise surgical room to offer low-cost spay and neuter programs, a boarding facility, a grooming area, visiting rooms for potential adopters, a lobby with a gift shop, a memorial garden, and a dog walk.

But first things first: we want to start by putting in our new kennels. This will allow us to expand our services to this community, and we will be better able to help stray and unclaimed dogs  and cats to be reunited with their owners or be adopted into new loving homes as we will have more room to take in stray and surrendered animals.

Purchase of a customized brick will give us the funds we need to build the new kennels as soon as possible, as well as creating a lasting monument of your support for the animals in our community. All bricks purchased will be used in the creation of the memorial walk at the Johnstown, NY site. We will begin construction of the new kennels as soon as funding allows.
