Future Park Programming
The Town of Occoquan is raising funds in order to invest in programming and
improvements within the Town’s parks including providing park programming to include concerts,
community events, family-friendly activities and more. In addition, funds generated from
this fundraising program will be used to maintain the park and fund future
improvements.
The Town of Occoquan, in partnership with Fairfax Water and
Prince William County, will open a new, one-acre park in Historic Occoquan in the spring of
2016. When completed, the park will boast a looped stone-dust trail, a pavilion, public
restroom facility, improvements to the footbridge and stunning views of the Occoquan River.
When opened, River Mill Park will be the Town’s second public park. Mamie Davis Park is
the Town’s first park and includes a gazebo where many family gatherings, community events and
weddings are held and connects to the Town’s public dock and board walk. Furnace
Branch Park is an undeveloped parcel owned by the Town that has been identified to be
developed into park land in the future. In addition, the Town recently acquired 17 acres
just outside of town on Tanyard Hill Road and Old Bridge Road. Plans for this parcel
include adding a trail and conserving the property’s natural state for future public
use.
