In 2012, Five
Salinas-area Rotary Clubs and three international clubs partnered with local
businesses to fund and build a $370,000 public square and copper-roofed rotunda
(kiosko) at Closter Park in East Salinas. The project aimed to create a safe
gathering space for community events, with construction coordinated by
members.

The
Mexican-style kiosko (public square) to provide a safe, central and aesthetic
community gathering spot for residents has been well used and liked. In
conjunction with the City's improvements in other areas of the park,
funded through a grant, we are doing a renovation of the rotunda and
surrounding areas including installing a peace pole.
To offset
costs, not covered by the City’s grant, we are selling bricks that will be
added to the current bricks sold at the original installation. If you
would like to add to the collection or if you did not get an opportunity in
2012, this is your chance to express your support for this community and the
positive impact this space has on the families that frequent here.
Your brick will
be installed by volunteers in the area surrounding the rotunda in front of the
newly added amphitheater.
