Museum’s Mission
The Tobacco
Farm Life Museum is a non-profit 501c3 organization that started in 1983 with
on-farm tours to local farms. It has grown to include a 6,000 square foot
gallery, a workshop, pack house, traditional homestead, tobacco barn and one
room school house. The Museum’s mission is to preserve and present the heritage
and history of the rural North Carolina farm family between 1880 and 1940. We
fulfill this mission through exhibits and events that focus on the farm
community.
Project Details
The Museum is
seeking to build long lasting fundraising opportunities and meet on-site needs
for handicapped guests by encouraging the community to become a part of
preserving North Carolina’s history. We seek to begin a walkway of names of
individuals tied to the agriculture story in North Carolina, whether you are a
farmer or the great grandson/granddaughter of a farmer, agriculture is a part
of your story. The truth is agriculture is a part of all of us. This legacy
provided sustenance for everyone and has built the institutions that surround
us. Help the Museum continue the story of agriculture in North Carolina by
donating a brick.
The Heritage
Trail fundraiser will build on the foundation already laid by the founders and
will continue with projects already in progress. We seek to build a walkway to
the past with the “Stepping into the Past Heritage Trail”
The Tobacco Farm Life Museum is selling 4”
x 8” bricks for individuals to purchase with the donors name engraved on the
bricks. The bricks can have up to three lines containing up to 18 characters
