Chris Rood Field Renovation Project
The Wabash High School Baseball Field
was built in 1981 and since its birth there have been no significant changes to
the playing surface. The name of the field was changed in 1995 to honor the man
who built the field itself and then built the Apache Baseball program into a
well-known program. Coach Chris Rood spent countless hours maintaining and
grooming the field.
The Wabash Baseball Boosters have spent thousands of dollars in the past 4 years. The Boosters have added paved side walks and fencing in front of both dugouts, installed brand new pro-style benches in the home dugout and completed a major renovation of the permanent seating on the hill, which includes a retaining wall, fencing and brand new benches. During the 2014 baseball season, 2 brand new batting cages will be installed (one next to each dugout) along with brand new Bullpens.
It is the goal of the Wabash Baseball Boosters to continue on with the care and maintenance of this beautiful baseball facility, which bears his name. The Wabash Baseball Boosters would like to add field wide drainage along with the installation of an entirely new infield.
In order to fund this renovation project we are planning on creating a
Memorial/ Tribute area at the top of the hill. This area will include a
remodeling of the current Chris Rood Memorial. To accomplish this renovation
project we will be selling engraved paver bricks.
