ZUMC Memory Garden
Zellwood United
Methodist Church currently has a paved patio with a fountain in the center and raised planters in
each corner. The patio is surrounded by classrooms on two sides, the Fellowship Hall on the third
and the Sanctuary on the fourth. The concrete patio is in need of major renovation, including the
drainage system. It has been used over the years for receptions, Easter Sunrise and Christmas Eve
candlelight services, as well as a gathering place for groups during VBS and other
activities.
Our plan is to complete this renovation and enhance the beauty of the area, as well
as to establish a memory garden. The cost would be offset, at least in part, through sales of
engraved bricks in honor or memory of loved ones in our church family.
We will be removing all concrete and one small planter, but leave the corner planters and
fountain. Four brick sidewalks would be placed between the existing sidewalks and leading up
to the fountain. Remaining areas would be filled with grass, and planters would be redesigned with
new landscaping.
Timeline:
April/May- Present plan to
congregation and begin sale of engraved bricks.
June/July 2016 - Demolition of
existing patio
