Help Peace River Wildlife Center Build Our New Education Center!
Over 2,500 injured, orphaned or
displaced Florida native wildlife animals are rescued and admitted each year to Peace River Wildlife Center. These patients are promptly examined by
our medical staff and started on individualized treatment
plans. While the ultimate goal is to
treat and release these patients back to their natural habitat, this isn’t always
possible. Some of our patients become
permanent residents at our education center and their stories are used to
educate the public on Florida native wildlife.
With the growth in Charlotte County, the number of rescues continues to increase year after year.
In planning for this growth, a new
state-of-the-art education center on Henry Street near downtown Punta Gorda is
underway. The four-acre parcel will
allow for a more diverse population of wildlife on display for public
education. The visitor-friendly
environment will feature interactive displays, more space for public programs,
a professional kitchen to nourish our residents and more.
The new education center will cost
approximately $5,000,000. Our campaign to build the new facility will allow us
to continue to help our Florida native wildlife at the level the community has
come to expect.
As the only wildlife rehabilitation center
in Charlotte County and one of the few education facilities that allow visitors
to learn from and view resident animals in Southwest Florida, we are dedicated
to serving our animal patients and the community and hope you will join us in
making our vision a reality.
