On April 21, 2015, the Lent Town Board approved a recommendation of the Parks Committee to build a playground on the green space near the Town Hall east of the ball field.
Thanks to the Stacy Lions donations to Lent Township for Parks, and donations from our Lent citizens’, the Town Hall playground was unveiled in July 2015 with two significant pieces of play equipment – Climbing/Slide Structure & Sway Fun.
Our intent has been to create a fun, inviting playground and adjoining area that will be unique to the region. Thanks to the Stacy-Lent Fire Department, a protective fence enclosure was installed. Additional noteworthy playground components – Swing Set & Omni Spin -- were purchased as funding allowed. By fall of 2017, our play equipment vision had been completed. One goal remains to be accomplished.
The primary goal of the playground has always been to make it as inclusive as possible. Some children and adults with mobility issues are hindered by the typical surface on playgrounds. The final step is to add a poured-in-place (PIP) accessible pathway that will allow wheelchairs to move easily between pieces of equipment so everyone may enjoy the playground. PLEASE HELP US!
CITIZENS FOR LENT, an ad hoc group of Lent residents, is promoting an ENGRAVED BRICK FUND RAISER. Bricks may commemorate people and organizations that contribute to this endeavor or memorialize and honor loved ones.
Stop by to see our designated Engraved Brick area by the blacktop along the west fence of the playground. Any funds raised, over and above the cost of the bricks, will be applied toward the playground’s poured-in-place (PIP) pathway.
